Tru Summit 2027 - Full Program

Sept 20, 2027

11:00A - 12:30AClients Welcome and Appreciation Lunch

Curious what we are seeing across treasury programs right now? We open the Summit over lunch and a special activity for all our valued clients. We’ll leave plenty of room to trade notes with the people at your table, so you start the week already knowing who to find.

12:30P - 1:00PNetworking Break

Grab a coffee, stretch, and keep the table conversation going with the people you just met. Sessions begin promptly at 1:00.

1:00P - 2:00PStop Giving It Away: How to Price Treasury Management (Client Special)

Ready to stop leaving non-interest income on the table? This session breaks down how to price treasury management, led by the people who build treasury pricing for a living. Hear how to structure what you charge, what to stop offering for free, how to communicate pricing changes without straining member relationships, and what to expect as those changes take hold. We’ll also cover how to build the internal case and what to put in front of your board, so you can move on this before your next budget cycle.

2:00P - 3:00PFollow the Fraud: Check Fraud and How to Handle It (Client Special)

Think check fraud is a solved problem? It remains the most common threat facing credit unions and their business members, and the schemes keep getting more sophisticated. This session covers what check fraud looks like today, what to watch for on the frontline, how to protect both your institution and your members, and how to handle a case once it lands. We’ll also cover the detection habits and escalation paths that consistently shorten response time, so your team knows what to do on the day it happens to you.

3:00P - 4:00PThe Future of Treasury Technology (Client Special)

Wondering what it actually takes to grow a treasury program? This session looks at the technology underneath one: risk assessments, digital banking platforms, and relationship management systems, and how those pieces are supposed to fit together. Hear what large banks run in their stacks, what holds up at your scale, where institutions tend to overbuy, and what to prioritize first when the budget is finite. We’ll also be candid about where Tru Treasury fits and where it does not, so you leave with a clear view of what to build, buy, or partner for.

4:00P - 6:00PExhibit Hall Opens

Your first walk through the hall, with a drink in hand and no meeting to run to. Meet the partners and providers building in treasury, ask the questions that never fit into a scheduled vendor call, and see what is new before the full conference opens tomorrow.

6:30P - 8:30PWelcome Reception

Meet your fellow attendees over a proper taste of New Orleans. Good food, an unhurried pace, and the kind of conversations that turn a room of names into the network you will be calling on all year.

September 21, 2027

7:30A - 9:00ABreakfast

A full breakfast, good coffee, and a quiet start to the day. Come and go as you like before the general session opens at 9:00.

9:00A - 10:00AOpening Keynote: Everyone Sells

Who actually owns growth at your institution? This keynote makes the case that it is not one department, and that treasury is where the whole organization either aligns or stalls. Hear how institutions activate the frontline, lending, marketing, and leadership around the same offer, what changes when every role can explain it, where growth quietly leaks when it stays siloed, and what executive sponsorship has to look like to matter. We’ll also cover the habits that keep momentum after the kickoff meeting, so the shift outlasts the quarter.

10:00A - 10:45AThe Year Ahead

What do rates, deposits, and fee income look like from here? This session delivers an economic outlook built for community institutions rather than for Wall Street. Hear where rates appear to be heading, what deposit competition is shaping up to look like, how fee income expectations are shifting, and which indicators are worth watching month to month. We’ll also translate the forecast into what it means for your plan, so you can pressure test next year’s assumptions before you commit to them.

10:45A - 11:00ANetworking Break

A short reset. Grab a coffee, compare notes, and be back for an 11:00 start.

11:00A - 12:00PPanel Discussion: Punching Above Your Weight

Can a community institution really take business deposits from a national bank? It happens constantly, and this session covers how. Hear where community teams win on speed, service, and relationship depth, what they deliberately refuse to compete on, how they position against a national footprint in a live proposal, and where the giants are genuinely vulnerable. We’ll also cover how to build a pitch around the advantages you already have, so your team walks into the next opportunity knowing exactly where it wins.

12:00P - 1:15PNetworking Lunch

Good food, good company, and time to trade ideas with peers who do the work you do. Breakouts begin at 1:15, so take a look at the tracks before you sit down.

1:15P - 2:20PBreakout Sessions · Round One

Ready to get into the details? Three tracks run concurrently, each built as a working session rather than a presentation. Choose the one closest to the problem on your desk right now.

Breakout AHigher Ground: Moving Positive Pay from Fraud Checkbox to Fee Income

Hosted by Advanced Fraud Solutions, this session looks at the detection layer underneath a fraud program and what it takes to run one well. Hear where the common gaps sit, what institutions your size are deploying, how to tune alerts so your team is not buried in false positives, and what a realistic rollout actually looks like. We’ll also cover how to tell whether it is working, so you can defend the investment at renewal.

Breakout BBigger Deposits, Covered: What Extended Insurance Opens Up

How many large deposit relationships have you turned away, or watched walk to a bigger institution? This session covers extended deposit insurance and the relationships it makes possible. Hear how the coverage works in practice, which business and public unit relationships it puts back in reach, what it means for liquidity and balance sheet management, and how to raise it in a member conversation. We’ll also cover what to have in place operationally before you offer it, so you can say yes the next time a large relationship comes to the table.

Breakout CThe Treasury Conversation: Selling Without Sounding Like a Sale

What happens after your team spots the opportunity? This session is about the conversation itself. Hear how to open a treasury discussion with an existing business member, which questions surface real pain, how to handle the pricing objection when it lands, and what to do when a decision stalls. We’ll also cover the coaching habits that keep a sales motion alive after the training ends, so the skills last past the first quarter.

2:20-3:30PBreakout Sessions - Round Two

One more pass. Three tracks run again with new sessions, so you can cover a second discipline rather than repeat the first. Pick the room that answers the question you came in with.

Breakout ABanking the Accounts Others Will Not: Cannabis and High-Risk Deposits

Wondering whether high-risk deposits are worth the compliance lift? This session covers what it actually takes to bank cannabis-related businesses and other high-risk accounts, and what the deposit base looks like once you do. Hear how institutions structure the program, what the monitoring burden genuinely costs in staff time, how to price for the work involved, and where examiners consistently focus. We’ll also cover how to decide whether this fits your risk appetite at all, so you leave knowing whether to pursue it rather than only that others have.

Breakout BBuy-In Before Rollout: Building a Team That Wants to Grow

Ever launched something the team never really adopted? This session covers how leaders create the conditions for growth before the initiative is ever announced. Hear how to build buy-in across departments that do not report to you, what to do about the quiet resistance that never surfaces in a meeting, how to set goals people actually believe are reachable, and how to hold momentum when early results are slow. We’ll also cover the communication habits worth changing in yourself first, so the next rollout starts with a team already with you.

Breakout CBefore the Examiner Asks: Compliance on Business Accounts

Confident your business account files would hold up under a close look? This session covers what examiners are focused on with business and high-risk accounts right now. Hear where documentation most often falls short, how beneficial ownership requirements are being tested in practice, what monitoring expectations look like as a program scales, and how to tighten all of it without slowing the sales motion to a stop. We’ll also cover the recurring findings that are easiest to fix before an exam, so your team knows exactly where to look first.

3:30P - 4:00PAfternoon Break

Stretch, refill, and settle in for the closing session.

4:00P - 5:00PPanel Discussion: The Hidden Gem

Why is treasury still the most overlooked line in community banking? This closing session looks at the size of the opportunity and what the institutions moving first have already built. Hear why so many programs stay dormant, what the early movers funded and in what order, how long it took before the revenue showed up, and how much runway is realistically left. We’ll also cover where to start if you are building from close to nothing, so you leave with a first move rather than a good idea.

EveningSponsor-Hosted Events

Wind down New Orleans style. Sponsors host the evening around the city, from dinners to smaller gatherings, each with its own invitation and start time.

September 22, 2027

7:30A - 9:00ABreakfast

One more breakfast before the closing sessions. Come and go as you like, and settle in by 9:00.

9:00A - 10:00AThe Deposit Playbook

How do you win an operating account and then actually keep it? This session covers what it takes to earn core operating balances in a market where everyone is bidding for the same money. Hear how institutions price without starting a rate war, which products make a relationship genuinely hard to move, what onboarding has to feel like for balances to stay put, and which relationships are worth walking away from. We’ll also cover how to tell an operating account from a parked balance before you price it, so you are competing for the deposits that stick.

10:00A - 10:15ABreak

Fifteen minutes. Refill, check out of your room if you need to, and be back for the closing keynote.

10:15A - 11:15AClosing Keynote - From Hidden Gem to Growth Engine

So what does it look like when treasury finally works? The closing keynote puts three days into one picture: what a mature treasury program actually produces, what it took the institutions ahead of you to build one, how long each stage honestly took, and what year one looks like from wherever you are sitting today. We’ll also cover the two or three decisions that separate the programs that compound from the ones that stall, so you leave with a sequence rather than a sentiment.

11:15A - 11:30AHeadlines, Action Planning & Farewell

What are you going to do differently on Monday? The Summit closes with a working block rather than a send-off. We’ll pull the headlines from three days of sessions, then give you the time and the structure to turn them into a short plan: what you will start, what you will stop, who you need to bring along, and what can realistically be done in ninety days. We’ll also make room to compare plans with the people at your table, so you leave with commitments instead of notes.
